Chiropractic
Chiropractic is a form of alternative medicine mostly concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the neuro-skeletal system. It is both an art and science, as it is a skill that is acquired through understanding how subluxations work, and how to correctly adjust them.
Chiropractors asses the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine to find the primary subluxation(s), which are misaligned spinal segments that are the root cause for dysfunction. Each region of the spine affects the nervous system differently, causing local or systemic symptoms. For more information, go to our Symptom Search.
Subluxation:
Structural Misalignment
A subluxation defines a nerve that is being 'pinched' by a misalignment of the spine, causing that nerve to no longer function properly.
Considering that all of our organs, glands, circulatory system, and muscles are controlled by these nerves, this is a greater concern in addition to the symptoms it can produce.
A chiropractor will adjust any misaligned vertebrae in the spine that are responsible for pinching a nerve. This allows mobility and function of the body to be restored, and symptom relief largely occurs because of it.
